How to Fix a Bike Puncture – Instructions in description
In this video tutorial, I will show you how you can patch up your bike tube. Plus a couple of my tips.
You will learn to fix a punctured tube by the end of my video:)
HERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS:
What you need:
-You will need a punctured bike tube
-A pair of tire levers (If you don’t have one, use the end of kitchen spoons, forks, or knifes. Or use your hands)
-A bowl of water
-A patch kit
Directions:
-Take the wheel out of your bike
-Release the air out of your tire
-With the bike levers, pop one side of the whole tire out of the rim
-Pull the whole tire and tube out of the rim
-Grab your tube and add a bit of air
-With the bowl of water, you will locate the hole on your tube
(Wherever you see bubbles rushing out, thats the cause of the flat)
-Mark that hole (so you don’t loose your spot)
-Look for other holes (most likely you just had one hole)
-Dry your tube
-Take out all excess air
-Rough up the surface of the damaged area with your scuffer or sandpaper
-Apply a small amount rubber cement/glue
-Let the glue dry for 5 minutes or until tacky
-Apply the patch and hold it in place with pressure
-Done
These are Essential Skills you want to know. You don’t want to be bike touring for a long distance without this fundamental skill. Even if it’s around your city. It would suck for you to walk.
******Let me know in the comment section if I missed anything******
I’ve completed a bike tour recently. When I arrived back home, I noticed my front tire got flat when I left it overnight in my balcony.
Luckily this happened after I finished my bike tour.
I’ve made this video for anyone who is interested in learning how to patch their bike tube. Hopefully you learn something.
****If you’d like for me to do more of these DIY (Do It Yourself) tutorial videos. Let me know:) I’d be happy to.****
You can go ahead and check out my bike tour videos on this channel. Underhill Voyage. I pretty much like to try things that are new to me. For the moment I am taking on Bike Touring. I want to find out if a person with no prior experience is able to pedal for a long distance. This is the sport of Bike Touring.
So far, I am enjoying it. I went on a short (short in this sport) bike tour from my hometown in San Diego, California to Santa Barbara, California. I made a few mistakes. Such as riding on the Pacific Coast Highway for a couple days. All in the rain. Big no no, right?
I even made the mistake of setting up my tent in the rain. And loosing my blanket the first day I was pedaling out of my city. Boy was I cold!
But those mistakes are all good! Now I know.
Here is a video of the first day of that bike tour!

Check out my videos if you’re interested. I have more videos on that tour coming out soon.
Have a good one. Happy riding:)
