Doing some testing with the good ol’ mechanics tool (water)
Found the failure of the seal coming in from the engine bay area for the Passat (or at least one of them) as suspect it’s the ECU seal that is failing.
I poured a good chunk of water next to the ECU case. Looks as if the foam has perished so it’s seeping through it. The foam was probably good when first made but now it’s rubbish.
I’ve bought some “stickall” silicone sealant. Fully waterproof which bonds to all surfaces (£7 per tube)
I’ll be pulling the ECU housing and all foam off once the intial water is dried up and going crazy with the old silicone
