More about project :
Our company was successfully funded via a small kickstarter campaign for our Double Tap R1 headphones. Since then, we have had lots of requests to make a set of headphones with the same quality of our R1, but with an inline microphone and controls. We have worked for months on designing and prototyping an inline system that would hold up to our high standards of durability, along with keeping the headphones comfortable and reliable. We are very proud to introduce our newest headphones, the Double Tap R1M. Keeping with the original idea of the R1, the R1M’s are made tough. Built from real brass bullet casings and custom made billet aluminum parts, our R1M’s have a solid premium feel without sacrificing durability. Our R1 and R1M’s share the same high-quality, multi-layer cord. This cord is made from a protective nylon sheath and flexible silicone wire. This allows the nylon sheath to take most of strain and stress while the silicone wire floats freely inside. This combination of materials also allows our cord to out last and withstand more than most other cords on the market. The cord is also tangle-resistant, so no more dealing with a tangled mess every time you want to use your headphones. Also, every set comes with magnetic-backed earphones to allow for clean storage, or you can use this to hang the headphones around your neck when they’re not in use. Most durable products have to sacrifice usability, functionality, or even comfort to make sure that their item is durable. Well–we don’t compromise. We know that the main purpose of headphones is to listen to music, so we’ve made sure to design our earphone housing around our 10mm dynamic drivers. This allows us to keep a full metal earphone and still deliver crisp and clear highs, mids, and lows that even an audiophile can appreciate. As for the inline microphone and controls, we have Android and iOS compatible options. This way, no matter what your phone of choice is, we’ve got you covered. No 3.5mm jack? No problem. We have a 3.5mm to Lightning and a 3.5mm to USB Type-C adapter with your name on it. Our inline system includes a play/pause/call button, volume controls, and of course, a microphone. We have also made sure that the controls could be used blind. This way, you will know what button you are about to press, free of distractions. All of this is encased in textured ABS plastic with polished buttons. If you are not familiar with what ABS plastic is, it is the same strong plastic that is used to make interior car parts, game controllers, and lots of electronic devices. In order to make this inline microphone and controls we need to get some custom parts made. We will need two different control boards for iOS and Android along with new plugs and the ABS housing for each board. We already have all of the designs made and have a couple working prototypes–but, to make this into a retail item, we need your support. Injection molds for ABS parts have a very expensive, one-time construction cost. Once the molds are made, parts can be made at a much lower cost. We have done all of the ground work of finding all of the suppliers along with having everything already tested and working perfectly. We’re ready to start producing them. The only thing left is your help. With your help, we will be able to get our molds made along with all the remaining parts to make our headphones even better. We can’t do this without you. With your support we can make this happen and your can get a set of Double Tap R1M headphones before anyone else. Let’s make this happen! …
I think the well system made of Duct Seal is the best for installing a transducer on a kayak hull. (thru-hull).
I is easy to make, easy to undo or redo. No tools are required at all. No sanding no heavy cleaning required at all. It is the cheapest and the fastest. There is no waiting time. You make it and go fish.
Though, I found that gluing the transducer on the hull, regardless of glue types (including Duct Seal), is not quite dependable. Because there is an inherent problem that is air pockets or air bubbles form between the hull and the transducer.
Build a well for the transducer and fill the well with water is the best way to achieve consistent and accurate readings for a long period of time.
On the video, I explained and demonstrated why a transducer well made of Duct Seal is the best way for installing a transducer on a kayak hull.
