In this video, Professor John Ahr of the Online Jewelry Academy demonstrates how to recycle paper using cold silicone molds. This is a great crafting idea that you can do with kids.
Using a two-part cold silicone mold making product, empty egg cartons, white glue, water, acrylic paint, glue and some findings you can make all kind of wearable items. You can design your own unique shapes to make molds of. Or, you can make molds from items you find around the house.
Here’s a secret for more advanced jewelers. Although it isn’t demonstrated in this video, you can pour melted inlay way into the same silicone molds. Let the wax chill in the mold for a bit. Then, dump out the wax that isn’t solidified. After letting the wax chill in the mold for a little while longer, you can pop out a wax model that’s perfectly hollowed out for casting.
