In this video I demonstrate the basics of how to lacquer, oil or varnish your wooden floors.
https://www.howtosandafloor.com/how-to-lacquer-or-oil-a-wood-floor/
Lacquering wood floors is relatively easy when you know how. There are benefits to years of practice, but with just a few nudges in the right direction you can achieve 80%+ of the quality of finish as a professional floor finisher.
If you are lacquering or varnishing your wood floors, then I would suggest using a high quality medium pile roller (no loss).
For oiling wood floors, I would suggest using a short pile roller (again high quality) because a coat of oil with a medium pile roller can take days to dry.
As demonstrated by the video you want to start applying the floor finish of your choice in the corner furthest from the door. Brush the lacquer on as if you were cutting in when decorating, then apply the lacquer, oil or varnish with the roller, keeping within the lines of the with you have chosen to lacquer.
Once you have completed one row, you go back to the other end of the room and start again. Keep applying strips of lacquer around 24 to 36 inches wide until you are right in front of the door. You then do the same again but you only apply a little at a time as you work your way out of the door.
Always check these instructions with what is written on the tin. There are many different techniques. Some oils are trowelled on and then buff to shine.
